Hello Ryogo,


This seems to be very interesting, could you please still share some info with which FW should this work, have you tested on 10.1.0 or 11.2.x ? Based on your previous post I guess that if there is no difference in partition layout between the two, it would work on both, right ?


Please rcommend if I can try on 10.1.0

I'm not sure what fw was used for testing, but I can find out if this is really crucial.
Anyway, I compared partitions table on 10.1.0 and 11.2.3 - there are no differences.
So, it should work regardless of FW version.

Very good, I will try it out on my 2nd TVHD4 FW 10.1.0.


Please allow still one perhaps silly question but I ask it anyway:
Would this be a chance for those (like my sister) who unintentionally updated to FW 11.2.3 with Android 4.4.2 to go back like this:


1. Someone creates Nandroid Backup with your TWRP on FW 10.1.0
2. Then they install TWRP on their FR 11.2.3
3. They restore backup taken on FW 10.1.0


Please let me know your thoughts

actually, I'd rather suggest against using someone backup for downgrade.
It should be possible to install modified vendor update.zip. I don't see a reason why this should not work.
The only issue that may occur here is that uboot was updated during update to 11.x and it could be potentially not compatible with 10.x. And I'd better not downgrade u-boot since it may render device unusable if anything goes wrong with uboot.
Anyway, I was going to try downgrade FW to 10.x a bit later so I could know for sure.

Thanks to additional testing made by Waldy it is now clear now that TWRP currently boots only on 11.x fw.
I'll be working on solving this issue soon.

So, as far as I see - it is not possible to downgrade from 11.x to 10.x without downgrading u-boot.
Also, I'm not really wiling trying to downgrade u-boot.

What a coincidence, I've bricked my tolino 4HD (again lol), and it did not boot anymore, I was using 11.2 firmware and found the twrp in the original site. I was able to install the update.zip of the version 11.2.3 after modifiyng the updater-script (META-INF), before I do that I was getting the "error 7" during the update process. I was comming to post the twrp recovery here and it's already here! To me have worked fine, without it my device would still be bricked, now I have done a full twrp backup so I can restore easily.

So, I can confirm - I was able to downgrade from 11.2.3 to 10.1.0
For this u-boot (bootloader), boot and system must be flashed.
The issue is - you cannot install unmodified update.zip from vendor as it will not install u-boot.

I have the vision 2.


I was able to boot into your twrp 3.2.3.v2 with fastboot boot twrp.img and everything worked normally.
(Using the built in console of twrp for a simple #pwd #ls was impossible though because buttons were most of the time not recogniced correctly but with shift)


I then flashed your twrp with fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
There were no errors, but it didn't work: now the recovery is not being booted into. It will go to fastboot instead.


The reader still works fine and otherwise boots normally. I can go into twrp only without flashing when booting the image directly from my laptop.
Any suggestions about how to flash twrp correctly?


If that is not possible, can I just flash the recovery.img out of original update.zip of 10.0.1? (recovery.img MD5SUM a80abf0028420ff0cf0671a82b9b137c)

for sure.. just use the recovery.img from the original update.zip and replace it via:


fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

After a couple of reboots i suddenly ended up in twrp, so it must have been installed after all.
But I can't boot into recovery via adb reboot recovery, nor get into recovery with button combinations. Hmmm...

Fastboot (angesteckt): Beleuchtung + Power


Wenn es das 2te mal geblinkt hat, dann bist du im fastboot und kannst beide tasten loslassen.


wenn du in twrp bist, dann bist du ja im recovery, du musst lediglich die recovery.img austauschen, also nochmal ausschalten und die tastenkombination versuchen


die frage ist, was du nun erreichen moechtest..
original-recovery wieder herstellen, oder twrp (aber twrp hast du nun scheinbar)

it is due to 10.x bootloader.
If I recall correctly I was able to boot into recovery with something like "power" + "light" + "back" combo. "adb reboot fastboot" / "adb reboot recovery" was not working for me too, I may assume that this commands are not handled in 10.x bootloader.
And yes, you can absolutely safely flash stock 10.x recovery using fastboot.

Ja, ich bin deutsch, aber aus Respekt vor Ryogo, der es wohl nicht ist, schreibe ich in Englisch. Ich wollte twrp installieren und behalten, dachte, das hätte nicht funktioniert, ging aber doch.


Yes, i had problems booting into twrp. The recovery is being called by holding the menu button, light and power button. Maybe i didn't hold the light button long enough or press the menu button firm enough, now that i tried it a couple of times it works.
Last question: on the vision 4, is typing in twrps console working well? On the vision 2 it's hardly recognising the right keystrokes.
