What was changed:

• fixed device check to be compatible with TWRP;
• updated installation script to be compatible with TWRP;
• removed recovery.img (so it won't rewrite installed TWRP);
• updated boot.img to enable adb;

How to install:
1) launch TWRP;
2) put "update.zip" to the root of /sdcard/ (on PC it is seen as Internal Storage);
3) install update.zip through TWRP;
4) if you're going between 10.x <-> 11.x it required to do Factory Reset in TWRP;


WARNING: it is crucial that filename is "update.zip";
WARNING: it is crucial that update.zip resides in /sdcard/ root;
WARNING: it is crucial to do Factory Reset if you're coming from different version of FW;


LAST WARNING: I DO NOT ENDORSE TO DO ANYTHING DESCRIBED ABOVE. ANYTHING YOU WOULD DO YOU'RE DOING ON YOUR OWN RISK.


P.S.: I still don't think that 10.x is superior than 11.x, really.

Could you please confirm exact steps you did for this downgrade, was it like this ?


1. You had standard FW 11.2.3 on your Shine 2HD and Vision 4HD
2. You installed the TWRP 3.2.3.v2 from Ryogo from here

3. Then you took the update.zip from Ryogo from here FW 10.1.0:

and copied to the sdcard root
4. Installed mentioned update.zip with TWRP
5. Factory reset with TWRP
6. Device reboots with 10.1.0


I thought it would be good to have it summarized incl. link for TWRP image for all those who are suffering with 11.2.3

edit (da ich perfektionist bin moechte ich den kompletten original-zustand wiederherstellen, d.h. original recovery.img + boot.img und natuerlich die moeglichkeiten des full-reset + wipe via standard recovery)


vision 4hd (ob es auch fuer andere funktioniert kann ich nicht testen): zurück zu 10.1.0 via linux (arch)

do you have a change to provide the old wipe_updated.zip?
i would like to try the original recovery with full-reset + wipe.


full-reset works, when i just use the original update.zip from the tolino page and rename it to orig_update.zip and put/replace via twrp to "share".
but wiping not.. script is for 4.4.2 but i need the old one for 4.0.4

I do not see anything like that in 10.1.0 update zip, so not really.
You could get one from 4.4.2 and adapt it.

ist recht einfach:
erst twrp installieren, siehe oben


in twrp auf "mount" und dann "share" anklicken und auf "zurueck"
dann auf "advanced" und "file manager" (das scrollen ist etwas bloed, also einfach oben umgekehrt nach namen sortieren)
im ordner "share" auf "wipe_update.zip" klicken (copy file)
dann auf "sdcard" und und rechts auf den hacken klicken
kabel anschliessen und auf rechner kopieren


danach kannst du wieder das original recovery.img aus dem download von der tolino seite kopieren, siehe oben

i know.. i compared it by myself.. but to be honest, i'm not able to modify it .. maybe in 2-3 weeks but not now ☺

with 10.1 you can use e.g. an alternate reader-app (e.g coolreader) because it is based on android 4.0.4..
with 11.x (based on 4.4.2) it is not possible.

Hi Ryogo,


Once more many thanks for your great work, yesterday I tried to make a backup of my TVHD4, did then some changes and restore back the previous backup - and it was working ! (the only minor thing was that while making backup, I intended to enter a name for the backup, and somehow the keyboard was not accepting letters, only digits, but not a problem as one can edit the backup's Name afterwards via PC )


Please respond still one question - I also tried to restore the backup taken on another TVHD4 (but the same FW 10.1.0) but this was not working ... is this a principal limitation of TWRP that it can restore only backups taken on the same device ? Or is there a workaround how to do it ? I have an impression that in the folder's name it creates like "8622...ba3e" some unique hw id of the device is encoded, is it so ?

Should be possible. What exactly was the problem?
Folder name, as far as I know, created based on a serial number of device. So you need to put backup into folder with a correct name or else twrp won't see it.
