Alternative firmware (for almost all models)

I've successfully installed this firmware on my epos 1.So happy to have an open reader now. 😊
One annoying thing is that there is problem with orientation. Sometimes it is changed without reason. Like: default orientation in koreader is normal portrait (0 degrees), but it starts with 90 degrees landscape. For some reason I can't switch it to zero degrees in koreader. Then, when I switch to - 90 degrees first, then to 90 degrees suddenly reading mode is normal portrait, even though koreader displays 90 degrees... Anyone else experienced this? Help is highly appreciated. Thank you.

Try this one:

from GoodEreader project

or this:

(from netronix)
Install your favorite launcher from adb, root via twrp INSTALL SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip, clean unwanted apk and enjoy! ☺
Put it on root of sdcard and reboot.
On update error, extract recovery.img from update.zip, flash it with fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
boot to recovery and select install zip from sdcard, then factory reset.

Ryogo firmware is from Freno KingJim japan eNote and the original firmware is:

This one need to add line to bot.img:
qemu.sf.lcd_density=215
for convenient font size.

Enjoy! ☺
You were close ☺ It is based on

with a few patches made by me.
Regarding GoodEreader FW - I've took a look at it before, but went with MobiScribe because it was more updated and was more adapted for e-ink devices.

Hello,

sorry for my english. i know its not good but i hope you understand me.

i have a Tolino epos and it is a few years old. now it is very very slow and it takes a few seconds everytime when you push something...
for example you want to type somesthing. it takes like 3-7 seconds for every letter ...

now i found this forum and i want to try to install that custom firmware.
YES i already tried to reset the tolino but it is still to slow.

My problem is now. i can not get into the recovery mode
i am holding the "home-, light- buttons" and pushing the power button.
then it starts but it starts in normal mode.

could you help me ?

the further way i will get by myself because i rooted a smartphone already and it looks pretty the same method.

thank you for help guys !

EDIT: wenn hier jemand deutsch kann und mir das auf deutsch erklären könnte dann wäre ich ebenfalls sehr sehr dankbar

To resolve this on the Tolino Epos 1 add this ro.sf.hwrotation=270 to /system/build.prop.

To do so boot into TWRP. From there mount the System partition and adb shell into your device. Finally do a busybox vi /system/build.prop and append ro.sf.hwrotation=270 and reboot back into System.

Hope this helps

Hallo,

  3. Ist es möglich, zur originale FW zurückzukehren?
Danke im Voraus für eine Antwort.

Hello,

I've been reading along on the site for a long time and have now decided to test a different firmware. I have a few questions about this.
  1. Are the roms still under active development? The last update seems to be from 2020, so not based on 15.2.0
  2. Will the cfw work if my device is previously running on 15.2.0 or do I need to downgrade to a specific FW first?
  3. Is it possible to go back to the original FW?
Thanks in advance for a reply.

Well... Not exactly. First, boot.img needs to have a config for specific device baked in, second - some ntx_6sl devices has differences on u-boot level that needs to be taken in account (namely - Nooks).
Hallo Ryogo
I need help with my tolino vision 3hd.
from some reason has stopped to work, i mean no boot.
I can access it only from fastboot, and the two partition is visible only in fastboot.
I have tried all update s from all forums.
Whwn i flash the update from tolino website, it boot but remain at the 4 dots (please wait).
I have to mention that in some cases i get error 7 when i try to flash a firmware.
When was broken, my tolino was at last update 15. somthing.
Can you halp me?
Or you can send me a backup with the last update?
Manny thanks in advance.
